Shamian Island

A blog post that should have been written September 10th, 2016… finally coming to life.

Another weekend brought another adventure in the city! I went with a few friends to visit Shamian Island. It is an island in the middle of the bustling city… and somewhat of an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. There are some no vehicle areas so it is actually quiet and peaceful there.

Shaman Island has lots of colonial and French architecture. The buildings are beautiful!

I loved walking around the beautiful tree lined streets and exploring this island area.

The pace of life was totally different on Shamian Island – none of the craziness of the cars and the people of the city – a great area to stroll and explore!

And, on the way back to the metro station, we passed a spice market – 3 solid blocks of spices for sale…

Another great Saturday exploring Guangzhou!!!

Lesson learned: No real lesson learned here, but exploring is a lot of fun!
